Mr. Christian Bergtholdt, Sr. was born February 20, 1807. He was the son ofJacob Bergtholdt, of Freedelsheim, near Durkheim, Germany. Kingdom of Bavaria.

Elizabeth Weber Bergtholdt was born June 6, 1806 at Kinderheim - nearGrunstadt, Kingdom of Bavaria. The name of the state "Reinpaltz". Shewas the daughter of Henry Weber, of the same place. Christian and Elizabeth weremarried June 29, 1831 at her home in Kinderheim. They left Kinderheim on July 2,1831 for a new home in America. They crossed the Atlantic in a sail boat. Thetrip consumed 33 days. They landed in New York where they took up passage on theErie Canal to Buffalo, New York - arriving there August 26, 1831.

They brought with them the old family Bible, which was printed in 1827. It isstill in the family. They brought an oil and grease pewter lamp, which is stillin the family. There was also an old chest, much over 100 year old, which theybrought across the ocean with them. Secreted in a little drawer in the chest wasmoney amounting to $6,000.00. Christian's father had presented him with$2,000.00 and Elizabeth's father had presented her with $4,000.00, as they wereafraid they might suffer hardship in this faroff country, America. They neverwent back to the old country for a visit.

Elizabeth's father had a large flour mill. There were nine sisters and onebrother in the family. One sister, with her husband and two children, came toAmerica with Elizabeth and her husband.

Elizabeth lived to a nice old age of 92 years. Six of her sisters lived to be90 or more. Her sister in America, Mrs. Kemera, was 93 and her husband 90 at thetime of their death. They lived in their quiet way, were very prosperous and hadmuch land. They had a family of eleven children, seven boys and four girls. Somedied in infancy. David lived to be nearly 80 years old. The others all diedyounger.

David Bergtholdt born August 14, 1848 in Bomansville Erie County, New York -married Barbara Margaret Leininger, February 13, 1877 by Rev. C. L. Knapp,Lutheran minister in Lancaster, N.Y.

Barbara born October 18, 1857 in Lancaster, Erie County, NY. David's motherlived with them on his farm. It was the farm his parents bought when they cameto America from Germany. After his father's death, the division of the estatewas made and the old homestead was given to David for his share.

They had four sons and one daughter. George, Henry, Bertha, Arthur and David.George, Henry and Bertha were born in New York. In 1886 they moved to Halstead,Kansas, where Arthyr and David were born. David was in the grain business withhis brother-in-law, Christian Bergtholdt.

After David left New York, the other brothers changed their name to Bergtold,as it easier to pronounce and spell. When David left NY, his mother stayed withher son, John for two years. She then cane to Kansas to live with David.

In 1892, they moved to Cameron, Missouri on a farm. There is where David'smother fell and broke her right hip and left shoulder blade. She lay on her backfrom May 5 until December 12, when she died at the age of 92 years. David tookher remains to New York and buried her beside his father who died at the age of 60 years.

In 1902 they moved to a farm six miles west of Bonner Springs, where theylived until 1911, when they moved to Cathage, South Dakota, on a large farm.They had to give up farming and moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where David wasemployed until his health failed. They went to Kansas City, Missouri and stayedwith me for a while, then sent for their furniture and was keeping house forArthur. At that time he was working for Montgomery Wards in the Post OfficeDepartment. Shortly after they moved, David died January 13, 1928. Buried inSioux City, Iowa. Barbara stayed with Arthur until she died, March 15, 1950 in ahospital at Pueblo, Colorado, 35 miles west of Fowler, Colorado, where theylived. She was buried in Halstead, Kansas.

Charles Bergtholdt born June 30, 1916 in Sioux City, Iowa died June 7, 1999 in Clearlake, City, Texas at the age of 82 years. Mr. Bergtholdt was a member of the Sunset Methodist Church of Pasadena and George Washington Memorial, Masonic Lodge #22, in Alexandria VA. Mr. Bergtholdt served as an Occupational Health Officer for NASA for over 25 years prior to retirement. He was a charter member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association. His loving family includes wife, Florine Marble Bergtholdt; son C. Peter Bergtholdt Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Bergtholdt Samuels; two grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his brother George C Bergtholdt. Visitation will be held 1:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Thursday June 10, 1999, family to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. at the Pasadena Funeral Chapel. A

Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 1999 at the Pasadena Funeral Chapel with Dr. Karen Dorris officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Oak Lawndale Cemetery.

AVIDALFREDBERGTHOLDT: David Bergtholdt was born in Cameron, Missouri. He moved his family to Carthage, South Dakota in 1914, where he had a farm. He moved his family into town in 1934 where he began working with the WPA (Roosevelt started this as a work plan). In 1940 he moved to St. Louis, Missouri. He had 5 or 6 acres of land to raise a garden of vegatables to sell out by the road.

LIVAEVAMCGEE: Olive Eva McGee was three weeks old when her real mother died. There were four girls and two boys born of this union. When her mother died, her father gave them all up for adoption to a Mr. Zink, which all the children took on their foster father's name of Zink.  Four girls and one boy actually got an inheritance from one of the sons approximately 1955.

Glennis Marvel and Dorothy Bergtholdt actually met at a Nazarene church. Dorothy and her sisters were new in town and were driving around looking for a neighborhood church to attend. At the church, John Earl Marvel was the preacher and she actually started dating Neal Marvel first. He carried a picture of Dorothy, which was seen by Glennis. Glennis liked what he saw and began pursuing Dorothy. They dated for about eight months before getting married.
